The Honor Clasp was presented to all those members of the Heer (Army), Waffen SS, Lufftwaffe and Kriegsmarine who committed acts of heroism or distinguished themselves by their honorable behavior.

These acts however, were not of a degree that would warrent the recommendation for the Knights Cross to the Iron Cross or the German Cross.

To be awarded the Honour Clasp, the individual must already have been awarded both the Iron Cross 2nd Class and the Iron Cross 1st Class.

The award itself is worn on the Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon,  normally mounted on the second button of the tunic.

Army/Waffen SS Honor Clasp introduced 1st January 1944, with 4,556 being awarded.

Kriegsmarine Honor Clasp introduced 13th May 1944, an estimated 60 were awarded.

Luftwaffe Honor Clasp introduced 5th August 1944, no records of numbers awarded.
