DRL Sports Badges
The DRL Sports Badge was instituted in 1933 as the "Deutshcher Reichsbund fur Leibesubungen", (German National Physical Training Union) (DRL). It was widely awarded to civilians and military who demonstrated proficiency at athletic events. Tests had to be passed annually in order for the badge be retained. The badge was awarded in bronze, silver and gold classes. The swastika was added to all badges in 1937. A badge issued for athletic events for wounded war vets was instituted in 1942.
